How does it Work?
The active ingredient is dihydroxyacetone (DHA) which causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the outer most layer of the skin, the epidermis. This reaction causes the color of the skin to darken, producing a beautiful, natural tan. DHA starts to react with the skin within 2 hours of the tan application and continues to do so for a total of 4-8 hours. It is recommended waiting a minimum of 7 hours after tanning to shower or bathe. Allow 20-30 minutes per session depending upon service chosen.
How long does an Airbrush Tan last?
Depending upon the each individual’s activities and skin type, the tan lasts approximately 7-10 days. With follow-up applications, a person can maintain the tan indefinitely. What should you wear & How do I prepare for my Spray Tan?
Attire for women is whatever you are comfortable with. Many things can be done to minimize tan lines. The key is your comfort level. Attire for men is boxers, swimming trunks or shorts. Your tanning specialist will use the utmost discretion. Loose fitting clothing should be worn after an Airbrush tanning session. DHA can react with wool, nylon and silk. These fabrics should not be worn during or immediately following your tanning session.
To prepare for your tan and for best results, shower, shave and exfoliate your skin either the day of your appointment or the day before.
What is different between Airbrush Spray Tans & a Spray Booth or HVLP?
Since your technician is trained to apply the sunless tanning solution with such precision you will have no streaks, discoloration, our hands and feet will match the rest of your body. It is a flawless, golden tan. There is a difference between a "spray tan" and an "Airbrush Spray Tan". We apply the solution with an "airbrush gun" that emits the solution in a fine mist, giving us control and precision. An HVLP, comes out similar to a spray booth and can leave the hands, feet, knees and elbows splotchy in addition, does not last as long typically. You can choose to get a sun-kissed tan or a darker tan as the technician can lighten and darken the solution. No more orange, no more dark palms and no super, salty odor. It fades like a real tan. In addition, a spray booth or HVLP can leave areas that are darker than others and can cause streaking. You will look like a celebrity on the red carpet!
